Creating your Own Spice Mix... Workout...Meal... Creating Your Own Box in Life!

I keep talking about this African - Moroccan Spice mix I put on everything so I figured I would provide some details...

Here's the line-up:
Salt
Pepper
Ras al Hanout (Moroccan Seasoning)
Hot Madras Curry Powder
Garam Masala
Cumin
Curry
Turmeric


I make batches of this stuff because...


I season a lot of food cause...

I eat a lot of food!!

Here's a pound of flounder fillets.


12 oz of Ahi Tuna fillets....


12 oz of Salmon fillets....


After riding my bike to Starbucks and downing a Grande Cafe Americano with an extra shot (that's 4 shots of espresso total), I was ready to go kill something....

Like a workout so I rode the Red Mule to Family Fitness....

Only to find it was closed....

Didn't see that little detail on the website or the Group Exercise Schedule....

Sometimes I think the Family Fitness staff is a little technology challenged....

So I rode home and did my usual stretch and myofascial releases with a hard foam roller and told my daughter....

"How bout we create our or WOD (Workout of the Day)?  Let's Lunge around the block (which is actually more than a block - Poinciana is a big horseshoe)" -

But anyway - you get the picture....

Speaking of which, here's the long legged Amazon lunge-ing it out down the street!!


And here's a knee's eye view of my lunge-ing effort which numbered some 600 lunges - 400 forward 200 backward and took 29 minutes total....

Pretty good workout!!!


Holy Red Whatever - What is that?  HEB Adobo seasoned leg quarters with my own twist - HEB seasoned the outside with their deep red Adobo seasoning.

I took it a step further - I pulled the skin up from the meat and liberally sprinkled my African - Moroccan spice mix UNDER the skin!!!!

And let it marinate overnight.


1st step is Sear it hard in a smoking hot cast iron skillet - this crisps up the skin and seals in the juices basically blackening the outside of the chicken and starting the cooking process on the hard to cook thigh and leg meat...


See what I'm saying and See what I'm seeing - highly spiced blackened goodness!!!


2 down....2 to go...


Meanwhile back at the Veggie farm - 2 Sweet onions already cut up and several hatch chiles, asparagus, zucchini, squash, carrots and kale waiting....


In go the leg quarters....


Into a 400 degree oven for 30 minutes....


Stay tuned.... the meal continues....

But the theme of these activities is something I want to talk about....

In the CrossFit World, the Workout Area, Gym or Fitness Center is called a "Box".
