Yesterday's Trip to the Old Castle and Palace on Heidelberg

The churches, fortresses and castles of Germany are not just incredible architectural monuments but also storybooks and chronicles of the development, struggles and triumphs of their occupants and the region.
The Heidelberg Castle is another example of this. I won't go into all that I learned of the history of this castle and of Germany from the guided tour I took  but will provide the Wikipedia link for your reading pleasure.
Special Thanks to Elmut of the Castle Tours for his humor, knowledge and presentation of the history and humor associated with the Heidelberg Castle.
I'll insert comments of explanation where appropriate but for the most part let the images speak for themselves of the story and life of the Heidelberg Castle.
