Just Eat Eggs.... They were good enough for Cool Hand Luke.... That's Good Enough for Me!

Good Humpday Morning my Faithful Followers.... all 1.5 of you...

Don't try to understand it... it's an old Inside Joke.

I've made no secret that I think the Paleo diet is one of the Significant Secrets to a Happy and Healthy Life.

Why?

Because it allows you to eat a LOT of Food and still lose weight AND maintain high energy for an active lifestyle AND maintain a lean physique AND add muscle IF that's what you want.

Sound too good to be true?

I know it does.... but I'm living proof of all of the above...

Been on a Strict - No Cheating Paleo Diet since March 17th and have lost 30 lbs of fat and added back 3 - 5 lbs of muscle.

So enough of the Paleo Sales Pitch.... if you wanna know more about it just Google "Paleo Diet".

As always, a good start is the Wikipedia source - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paleolithic_diet

One of the great sources of protein that is on the Paleo Diet is what I consider the perfect food...

Eggs!!

Once again I present to you Wikipedia info on the nutritional value of an egg - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egg_(food)#Nutritional_value

Packing a boiled egg for lunch or a between meal snack is like carrying around a little Perfectly Proportioned Meal the size of .....

Well - the size of an egg.

I eat at least 2 - 3 eggs a day.... mainly soft-boiled... 4 mins in salted boiling water.

But occasionally, I'll do a couple of Over Medium eggs to go with the Holmes Pork and Venison Sausage, Ribeye or Pork Chop.

Lots of ways to prepare eggs - boiled, fried, poached, scrambled, omelette, fritatta....

Doesn't really matter how you do it.... it's the perfect protein!

Eggs got a bad rep in the 70s and 80s with the whole Cholesterol thing..... Don't even get me started on that.

Ok - too late for that.

It's obvious one of the 20 Guys That Run the World had some Beef (pardon the pun but that's probably what the deal was - He was probably holding a half a billion in Cattle Futures and was Short Eggs - That's Wall Street talk for wanting the price of Cattle to go up and the price of Eggs to go down) against the Egg industry and started a big scare campaign against eggs just to get the price down for a long period of time.

I mean that's a perfect example of having something nearly perfect in terms of nutrition and shooting holes in it just because of one bogus issue.....

Ever heard the saying "Throwing the Baby out with the Bathwater"?

Perfect Example.

If you work out, exercise like you're supposed to.... get your heart rate at 1.5 X Resting Rate for an hour a day 6 days a week.... the likelihood of you having any issues with your heart or blood pressure decreases significantly.... so the small ill effects of cholesterol in the eggs you're eating is a moot point.

Same thing with salt intake.... Doctors and the Medical Industry make such a huge deal out of sodium intake.

Easy Solution....

Quit eating processed, fried and fast foods that are so high in salt....

Cook your own fresh food and add the salt to each component of that fresh food before cooking.....

I call it "layered seasoning".

The net effect is that the food tastes great and you use much less salt because the food "absorbs" the salt while it's cooking - hot materials absorb stuff better than cold or room temp stuff - basic physics 101.

So let's add fuel to the fire....

I salt and pepper my eggs before eating them.

Oh Holy Health Heresy....

Clogging those arteries with Cholesterol and blowing up that blood pressure with salt....

Bullshit!

Ok - Enough of the Soap Box Rant....

Back to the Incredible Edible Egg - that was a slogan that the Egg industry used to counter the Cholesterol Collusion.

Here's a few video links using the "Incredible Edible Egg" concept:

And finally a tip of the hat to one of the Coolest Cats that ever walked this planet and a Man who made a diffference....

Paul Newman.....

And a tribute to him and the "I can eat 50 eggs" scene from one of the greatest movies of all time -  "Cool Hand Luke"
