The Subject of Homosexuality.... From a Christian Perspective!

A while back I penned a post on Homosexuality based on a sermon I listened to in church.

The post was also in response to an animated discussion a Christian friend of mine and I got into following the sermon.

Turns out I stepped on the wrong toes cause this lady has done some pretty extensive research in the subject of genetic predisposition of homosexuality and the subject of homosexuality in general.

Anyway, she promised me a response to my post....

And Boy.... Did I get it.

Like my mom was fond of saying.... 

"Be careful of what you ask for.... Cause you may get it!!"

So without further adieu.... Here is my Christian friend's perspective on Homosexuality....

This isn't as extensive as I would like, but I figure we can always talk more about it...

The study that you mentioned is the main one that people refer to when trying to prove that homosexuality is genetic. I have included a link to an article that addresses the study. It is mentioned about half way down, but if you have the time, the whole article is very interesting.

Basically, 2 other studies were done in the same way, without the same conclusions. And the findings of his study were even argued as valid.  He could never duplicate his findings, even though he tried. In fact he stopped doing research in that area altogether. Researchers have to admit that there is no reliable indicator that can predict sexual orientation. I believe there are about 10 factors that explain why someone is gay, but that's for a different discussion. And despite those factors, a gay-identified person can always choose to change. (in my opinion anyway, as well as many others' opinions).

And regarding Same sex "marriage", there is more to it than just let them get married if they want to. It puts society as a whole at risk when we start redefining marriage. Here is a link that addresses that

Like I mentioned before, homosexuals have a much higher rate of suicide, depression, substance abuse, etc. Here are some proven statistics:

* One study reports 70% of homosexuals admitting to having sex only one time with over 50% of their partners (3)
* One study reports that the average homosexual has between 20 and 106 partners per year (6). The average heterosexual has 8 partners in a lifetime
* Many homosexual sexual encounters occur while drunk, high on drugs, or in an orgy setting (7)
* Many homosexuals don't pay heed to warnings of their lifestyles: "Knowledge of health guidelines was quite high, but this knowledge had no relation to sexual behavior" (16)
* Homosexuals got homosexuality removed from the list of mental illnesses in the early 70s by storming the annual American Psychiatric Association (APA) conference on successive years. "Guerrilla theater tactics and more straight-forward shouting matches characterized their presence" (2). Since homosexuality has been removed from the APA list of mental illnesses, so has pedophilia (except when the adult feels "subjective distress") (27)
* Homosexuals account for 3-4% of all gonorrhea cases, 60% of all syphilis cases, and 17% of all hospital admissions (other than for STDs) in the United States (5). They make up only 1-2% of the population
* Homosexuals live unhealthy lifestyles, and have historically accounted for the bulk of syphilis, gonorrhea, Hepatitis B, the "gay bowel syndrome" (which attacks the intestinal tract), tuberculosis and cytomegalovirus (27)
* 73% of psychiatrists say homosexuals are less happy than the average person, and of those psychiatrists, 70% say that the unhappiness is NOT due to social stigmatization (13)
* 25-33% of homosexuals and lesbians are alcoholics (11)
* Of homosexuals questioned in one study reports that 43% admit to 500 or more partners in a lifetime, 28% admit to 1000 or more in a lifetime, and of these people, 79% say that half of those partners are total strangers, and 70% of those sexual contacts are one night stands (or, as one homosexual admits in the film "The Castro", one minute stands) (3). Also, it is a favorite past-time of many homosexuals to go to "cruisy areas" and have anonymous sex
* 78% of homosexuals are affected by STDs (20)
* Judge John Martaugh, chief magistrate of the New York City Criminal Court has said, "Homosexuals account for half the murders in large cities" (10)
* Captain William Riddle of the Los Angeles Police says, "30,000 sexually abused children in Los Angeles were victims of homosexuals" (10)
* 50% of suicides can be attributed to homosexuals (10)
* Dr. Daniel Capron, a practicing psychiatrist, says, "Homosexuality by definition is not healthy and wholesome. The homosexual person, at best, will be unhappier and more unfulfilled than the sexually normal person" (10). * It takes approximately $300,000 to take care of each AIDS victim, so thanks to the promiscuous lifestyle of homosexuals, medical insurance rates have been skyrocketing for all of us(10)
* Homosexuals were responsible for spreading AIDS in the United States, and then raised up violent groups like Act Up and Ground Zero to complain about it. Even today, homosexuals account for well over 50% of the AIDS cases in the United States, which is quite a large number considering that they account for only 1-2% of the population
* Homosexuals account for a disproportionate number of hepatitis cases: 70-80% in San Francisco, 29% in Denver, 66% in New York City, 56% in Toronto, 42% in Montreal, and 26% in Melbourne (8)
* 37% of homosexuals engage in sadomasochism, which accounts for many accidental deaths. In San Francisco, classes were held to teach homosexuals how to not kill their partners during sadomasochism (8)
* 41% of homosexuals say they have had sex with strangers in public restrooms, 60% say they have had sex with strangers in bathhouses, and 64% of these encounters have involved the use of illegal drugs (8)
* Depending on the city, 39-59% of homosexuals are infected with intestinal parasites like worms, flukes and amoebae, which is common in filthy third world countries (8)
* The median age of death of homosexuals is 42 (only 9% live past age 65). This drops to 39 if the cause of death is AIDS. The median age of death of a married heterosexual man is 75 (8)
* The median age of death of lesbians is 45 (only 24% live past age 65). The median age of death of a married heterosexual woman is 79 (8)
* Homosexuals are 100 times more likely to be murdered (usually by another homosexual) than the average person, 25 times more likely to commit suicide, and 19 times more likely to die in a traffic accident (8)
* 21% of lesbians die of murder, suicide or traffic accident, which is at a rate of 534 times higher than the number of white heterosexual females aged 25-44 who die of these things(8)
* 50% of the calls to a hotline to report "queer bashing" involved domestic violence (i.e., homosexuals beating up other homosexuals) (18)
* About 50% of the women on death row are lesbians (12).

And regarding children being raised by same sex couples, I feel that those children (the majority anyway) will be undoubtedly, negatively effected. Some stats on this:

The claim that homosexual households do not "recruit" children into the homosexual lifestyle is refuted by the growing evidence that children raised in such households are more likely to engage in sexual experimentation and in homosexual behavior.
Studies indicate that 0.3 percent of adult females report having practiced homosexual behavior in the past year, 0.4 percent have practiced homosexual behavior in the last five years, and 3 percent have ever practiced homosexual behavior in their lifetime.54 A study in Developmental Psychology found that 12 percent of the children of lesbians became active lesbians themselves, a rate which is at least four times the base rate of lesbianism in the adult female population.55
Numerous studies indicate that while nearly 5 percent of males report having had a homosexual experience sometime in their lives, the number of exclusive homosexuals is considerably less: Between 1 and 2 percent of males report exclusive homosexual behavior over a several-year period.56 However, J. M. Bailey et al. found that 9 percent of the adult sons of homosexual fathers were homosexual in their adult sexual behavior: "The rate of homosexuality in the sons (9 percent) is several times higher than that suggested by the population-based surveys and is consistent with a degree of father-to-son transmission."57
Even though they attempted to argue otherwise, Golombok and Tasker's study revealed in its results section a clear connection between being raised in a lesbian family and homosexuality: "With respect to actual involvement in same-gender sexual relationships, there was a significant difference between groups...None of the children from heterosexual families had experienced a lesbian or gay relationship." By contrast, five (29 percent) of the seventeen daughters and one (13 percent) of the eight sons in homosexual families reported having at least one same-sex relationship.58
These findings have most recently been confirmed in a study appearing in the American Sociological Review. Authors Judith Stacey and Timothy J. Biblarz alluded to the "political incorrectness" of their finding of higher rates of homosexuality among children raised in homosexual households: "We recognize the political dangers of pointing out that recent studies indicate that a higher proportion of children of lesbigay parents are themselves apt to engage in homosexual activity."
Stacy and Biblarz also reported "some fascinating findings on the number of sexual partners children report," that: The adolescent and young adult girls raised by lesbian mothers appear to have been more sexually adventurous and less chaste. . . . In other words, once again, children (especially girls) raised by lesbians appear to depart from traditional gender-based norms, while children raised by heterosexual mothers appear to conform to them.59

Incest in Homosexual Parent Families
A study in Adolescence found: A disproportionate percentage--29 percent--of the adult children of homosexual parents had been specifically subjected to sexual molestation by that homosexual parent, compared to only 0.6 percent of adult children of heterosexual parents having reported sexual relations with their parent...Having a homosexual parent(s) appears to increase the risk of incest with a parent by a factor of about 50.60

****On a personal note, the fact that I have loved ones and friends struggling with SSA (Same Sex Attraction) is what initially got me interested in educating myself in the subject, but since then I have grown to have a compassion for people who do not want to be in that lifestyle anymore, but need help getting out of it, physically and even more so emotionally. The issue to me isn't whether it's a worse sin than any other sin. It's that SSA  is not what God's best plan is for us as humans, and for the people who realize that and want to get help, they  should be able to get that help, and to be given the respect and "tolerance" to be able to make that change if they want to. Right now, if a person decides they want to pursue leaving the gay lifestyle, they are ostracized from the gay community (I know this for a fact, as I have known people who have left the lifestyle and have been persecuted for it).  So much for tolerance.

I have a problem with the "gay agenda", insisting that society accepts and condones homosexuality as a good, healthy, positive behavior, when the above statistics prove that it is not any of those things. The true life of a homosexual is not what is portrayed in the media, on TV, or by the gay activists themselves. There is a dark, sad side to it that will never be admitted to in the media. I have spent many hours with people who have come out of the lifestyle, as well as with counselors who have told of countless clients that they worked with,  and they have confirmed this. 

I have no issue with the individuals themselves, or their choice to live that lifestyle. That is their choice, and i treat them the same as anyone else. But I do have issues with homosexuality in and of itself. (as well as other sexual sins that hold people in bondage like we talked about in small group).  If we continue as a society , like it says in Romans, "to do these very things, and approve of those who practice them", and insist that we "not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God" (Rom 1:28), then where will it lead to??  People demanding that we should be able to marry our pets and have sexual relations with them? So these are some of my issues and concerns, not with the actual individual themselves.

I know this ended up being long, and it's ok if you don't read through it--I did all of this for myself too.....and I know that for every article on the internet, there is another one that counteracts it. we will have to just agree to disagree on this (add it to the list! lol)
