A talk w/ Carol Lee

Went over and met Carol Lee the Camp Host - had heard so much about her from Park Mgr Raymond Drake - he made it sound like she ran the park!

What a blessing to meet her. She is 68 & from California & came out here & bought 20 acres & opened a retreat called Nayeli Nature Retreat.

She describes it as a place of peace for those who have been wounded by Life - getting out in Nature is part of the healing process.... kinda my thinking and what I've experienced over the last month.

I talked about my bicycling blog & my future destinations & she suggested that when I hit California just keep going North to Alaska - she was the 3rd person to suggest that - I feel a Plan developing!

Anyways, Carol Lee says she did a working vacation @ Prince's Lodge in Denali NP and that Alaska is a must see!

Carol Lee also went to Peru in 1997 on a Shammanic journey. She canoed & backpacked into the Amazon Rain Forest & stayed for 2 weeks w/ no amenities - just what you bring in -
total self-reliance!

It is the combination of self healing & self reliance that Carol Ann professes and provides as the theme for her retreat.

Carol's daughter is an oncology nurse often working with terminally ill children. Carol and her daughter often host them at the retreat.

What a fascinating lady - she was married to a Medicine Man and is friends with Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia's wife.... needless to say our conversation was too short and the topics too few.... but I felt an added peace and energy after my short visit with Carol Lee...
