I've been using a 4 GB Sandisk Zip drive to back up my pictures and other documentation for the trip.
I did the Powerpoint file for my business cards and saved it on the Zip drive.
When I was at the Best Western - Snyder Inn, I inserted the Zip drive into the Business Center computer there so I could print out some of the business cards since I hadn't been by a print shop.
Must've picked up a virus on the Zip drive from that computer - Jeff Hammond at the Copy Outlet in Lubbock alerted me to it because his virus software detected it.
Anyway - when I got to the motel room last night I went to the Malware website and downloaded the free anti-Malware software:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
I found out about Malware from a computer tech from PC Care down in Lake Jackson..... that's all they use.
My experience with Norton Anti Virus software is that if you have all the protection features enabled, the freakin' computer won't hardly run - the software bogs it down - seems kinda counter productive to me.
With Malware I just run it about once a week and it scans the computer hard drive and any Zip drives you have plugged in for viruses and removes them....and the software is free.
So I ran the anti-Malware software last night and sure enough there were Worm viruses on my Gateway Netbook and the Zip drive.
..... and then they were gone.....
It's that simple.... it works for me..... and you know how I feel about things that work for me..... I use 'em and stick with 'em.
Malware is the way to go!
