Comments:
Wow! That was fun! 510 miles in 14 days total – 11 days of riding – slept in 5 state parks, 5 motels & 1 gazebo – 2 flat tires, 1 busted rear rim – 10# lighter – sore thighs but the pain / stress of sitting behind a computer continuously is gone – replaced by a feeling of peace, thankfulness and a renewal of confidence in America, the people in it and my own ability with the grace of God to do something that a few people dream about, a few more people envy and a whole lot of people just shake their head at and go “What’s wrong with that guy?” Hey, that’s what make America what it is…..just as long as I don’t break any laws or make a general nuisance out of myself, I can exercise my right to do whatever I want…. Even ride my bicycle across Texas! Is this a country or what? I hope this little trip and the documentation of it has inspired you to do something out of the ordinary…. Something that challenges you physically, mentally and spiritually… or at least make you laugh a little bit, smile a little bit and think a little bit….. There’s a lot out there, just waiting to be seen and experienced…. Don’t let it pass you by! Carpe diem….. so what’s next…. Leave my bike, backpack and gear in North Richland Hills….Ride back to Lake Jackson with my son and his new fiancee’( in my son’s truck)….Congrats to Aaron and Whitney….. have Christmas with my family…. Ride back to NRH after Christmas and start leg 2 of my journey…. Probably west to Albuquerque NM…. Or wherever the road leads me…. Stay tuned!.... oh that’s so old school…. I mean “Stay Connected!”.
Day 14 miles cycled = 25. Total miles cycled = 510. Total miles hiked or walked = 20.
End of Leg 1.
