Fake it to Make it!

Alice in Chains was like a Missing Link between Heavy Metal and Grunge and, being that I'm a huge listener to both genres of music, it's only natural that I set my iHeart radio station there to see what came up.

I gotta say I absolutely love the journey of love and communication and the description of a relationship in trouble portrayed in this Tool song.

"Schism"
I know the pieces fit 'cause I watched them fall away.
Mildewed and smoldering. Fundamental differing.
Pure intention juxtaposed will set two lovers souls in motion
Disintegrating as it goes testing our communication
The light that fueled our fire then has burned a hole between us so
We cannot seem to reach an end crippling our communication.

I know the pieces fit 'cause I watched them tumble down
No fault, none to blame, it doesn't mean I don't desire to
Point the finger, blame the other, watch the temple topple over.
To bring the pieces back together, rediscover communication

The poetry that comes from the squaring off between,
And the circling is worth it.
Finding beauty in the dissonance.

There was a time that the pieces fit, but I watched them fall away.
Mildewed and smoldering, strangled by our coveting
I've done the math enough to know the dangers of our second guessing.
Doomed to crumble unless we grow, and strengthen our communication.

Cold silence
has a tendency
to atrophy any
sense of compassion
between supposed lovers,
between supposed lovers,

I know the pieces fit [8x]

And this AiC classic is one of my favorite songs and videos of all time!

"Nobody Praying For Me"
I’m a whisper lost upon wind
I’m the ember that will burn you down
I’m the water that will drown you
I’m a star that’s just a black hole now
I’m a terrifying danger
I’m fruit decaying on the ground
I’m a swallower of anger
I’m the tree that falls and makes no sound
I make no sound…

‘Cause if I stand up, I’ll break my bones
And everybody loves to see a fall unfold
Ain’t nobody giving up, ’cause nobody gives a fuck
Stand up and break my bones
Everybody wants what they just can’t hold
There’s nobody praying for me

I am fungus in the forest
I’m a lizard with a poison tongue
I’m the child in the manger
I’m the one who sacrificed his son
Rust is showing on my armor
I am wheezing like an old man… done
I’m a product of my anger
I’m the bullet in a loaded gun

Stand up, I’ll break my bones
And everybody loves to see a fall unfold
Ain’t nobody giving up, ’cause nobody gives a fuck
Stand up and break my bones
Everybody wants what they just can’t hold
There’s nobody praying for me

‘Cause if I stand up, I’ll break my bones
And everybody loves to see a fall unfold
Ain’t nobody giving up, ’cause nobody gives a fuck
Stand up and break my bones
Everybody wants what they just can’t hold
There’s nobody praying for me
(There’s nobody praying for me)
There’s nobody praying for me

I gotta say with the knee problems I have and the pain I experience everyday just in walking, I have learned to appreciate every step I take so the lyrics have a special meaning for me.

‘Cause if I stand up, I’ll break my bones
And everybody loves to see a fall unfold
Ain’t nobody giving up, ’cause nobody gives a fuck
Stand up and break my bones
Everybody wants what they just can’t hold
There’s nobody praying for me

Really wanted to buy this Buffalo Skin hat!

Christmas decorations are going up!

Butternut Squash soup at Clafouti's. Yummy!

And their style of a Ham and Pork Cuban.  The bread was fantastic.... almost like a Panini!

This song still has me laughing everytime I hear it!

Roast chicken breast over spaghetti over spring mix and arugula with tomato - olive focaccia topped with black grapes and kalamata olives and sided with La Crema Pinot Noir!

Breezy and cold with a chance of snow.... guess it's time to break out the Long Johns.

Over Easy Egg over Ground Turkey Breast - Veggie mix patty over the same Spring Mix / Arugula combo with carrots and radishes and a couple of slices of pan toasted Focaccia.

I was talking with a friend of mine of one of the things I have worked on the most over the last few years and that is....

Projecting a Positive Attitude!

Even if you don't want to... Even if you don't feel like... Even if you are pissed off at the World....

Smile and Act Happy!

I have actually done this on purpose when I go into a public place like a grocery store.

I go in with this high energy body language and a shit-eating grin on my face and make purposeful and happy eye contact with as many people as I can.

And you know what?

About 90% of the people smile back at me..... even those who didn't look like they were having a good day.

They can't help it.... it is almost a reflexive thing that you smile back and someone smiling at you!

And you know what else?

When you smile, you feel better.

My friend had a simple expression to explain this positive phenomenon -

Fake it to Make it!

I'm a Believer!

Try it and you will too!
