Me and Darius - Got Nothing...

I woke up this morning, had my 3 cups of coffee and....

Felt like I got nothing...

Tired, sore and cramping - sounds like my time of the month.

So - what do you do?

You suck it up and pack it up and throw your tired hurts on the back of the bike along with God and Raymond - it's starting to get crowded back there - and push on down the Oregon coast - in the rain...

And you see what you can see...

I'm gonna get packed up and head down the street to the Blue Heron and the Pioneer Museum (WWII airplanes) and then take a right on 3rd St and do the coast route on Bay Ocean Road to see the Cape Meares Lighthouse and the Octopus Tree.

I'll likely stop at Cape Lookout SP and take a look around.

Then I'll stop at the Pelican Pub and Brewery near Pacific City and then join back up with 101 for a run down to Beverly Beach SP, a recommendation from Scott, the guy I met at Nehalem Bay SP.

GoogleMaps says about 63 miles but that's taking 101 straight there and I'm taking the dogleg to the Coast so I'm thinking around 70 miles.

Speaking of miles, I've done 612 miles total according to my Cateye bike computer and based on my notes about 35 miles of hiking.

I did a quick tally on costs and it looks like I'm averaging about $75 per day not counting one time purchases.

This is over my budget of $50 per day and is mostly attributable to more motel stays than I had planned and how much I'm eating and the cost associated with that.

For example, 2 days ago I bought 4 Mountain House Dehy meals and 2 - 4 oz packages of beef nuggets  The meals were about $6.50 each and the nuggets were $4 each.  I ate 2 that night - 1 meal 1 dessert and 1 for breakfast and 1 for lunch the next day supplemented by equal portions of the beef nuggets.  So that's $34 of food in one day... And that didn't count the 2 small bags of trail mix and 3 energy bars.

I just finished breakfast at the Shilo Inn and I'm gonna go pack up and get this day started.

Maybe I'll find something...

Somewhere....

Cause I still got....

Nothing.

  1. I do with you well on your travel for discovery of the Oregon coastline. Enjoy your finds. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for you. Not a lot of people can say they have seen as much as you have on your journey thus far. You have seen things some only wish they could. Your planning is excellent. Diana
