Wonderful day to cycle 28 miles in the coastal mountains of Oregon in not a driving but a riding rain.
Wet and getting cold, I went back home for supper when I saw a Mexican Food Truck on the side of the road and stopped to check it out and get out of the rain for a minute.
You know when the person at the truck window is an old Mexican lady that doesn't speak English that the food is good and it was great.
Pork Burrito with rice and beans and pico de gallo and radishes and 3 grilled serranos with a Mandarin Orange soda hecho en Mexico.
I lit out of there with my Frogg Togg top on and got a warm sweat going pulling 17, 18 and 19s on a 12 mile roll into Tillamook.
Saw a sign for the Blue Heron and then the Fred Meyer on the way in and then the Shiloh Inn popped up and I went in to check it out.
$129 + tax they said and I said no way. We went round and round and ended up with this nice suite for $89.
Guess I still look charming and persuasive even when wet and dripping and 50.
They got a laundromat, pool, sauna and an exercise room not that I'll need that.
I get a free beer at the restaurant and the usual free breakfast.
I'll go across the street to Fred Meyer and resupply cause I've eaten everything I bought at the Warrenton Fred Meyer yesterday.
Down to do laundry cause everything I got is dirty or wet or both.
I'll have that beer while the laundry is on and then plot tomorrow's strategy.
Another great day on the Pacific Coast.

Awesome. My day was similar. I driving rain all the way from port Angeles to port Townsend. No biggie. I actually got into a good rythem. When it rained harder, I pedaled harder. I actually had a kind of emotional moment. It was weird, I won't go into details. I do think a strenuous ride can bring out/up certain feelings. And that's a good thing. Same thing here: I'm plotting my strategy for tomorrow. I want to go to sedro woolley tomorrow. Its that or the san Juan islands. I'd like to see the islands when its sunny. Amen brother, I'm out. Gotta sleep and get that great contienntal breakfast. Tillamook. Awesome. Keep it up. I'm going to try to catch you in san Diego--ha ha, no way--youre too fast. Happy pedaling!

Autentico y saborosa!
ReplyDeletePCT-NB Glad to hear there's somebody else out there pedaling in the rain. Agree totally on the seminal moments after several hours of pedaling. Have them frequently. I attribute them to pain, endorphins, fatigue, low blood sugar and anything else I can come up with.
ReplyDeleteAte you the guy that was messing with his headphones / cell phone yesterday north of Tillamook that said he was gonna do laundry?
Stay safe and dry....
Glad you got a dry place to lay your head. Get a good night's sleep and start again in the morning, refreshed and new. Diana
