Flat Tire and the Determination to Travel Lighter

Came out of the Museum and had a flat so had to unload everything and take off the rear wheel and change the tire.

Got that done Ok but needed to buy a tube to replace the one I used so cycled over to Dennis Shopping Center.

Watched a couple of guys roll into Raymond yesterday and they were traveling light - really light...like 2 rear panniers only for 1 guy and just a big rack bag for the other guy with his sleeping bag and mat strapped up under his seat.

So I ha already decided to buy a really light sleeping bag....

So I did that at Dennis.

It was pretty inexpensive so if it just lasts the rest of this trip I'll be happy with the purchase... So we'll see.

The main thing is that it's half the volume and half the weight of my Coleman Exponent 15.

So that allowed me to do this.

Yep - I took the REI Half Dome rainfly, footprint and frame out of my rack bag and strapped it to the back rack along with my
Mat and stool and mailed back my sleeping bag and a small bag of stuff I weeded out this morning.

Net weight reduction =
6.5 lbs.

By the time I get to San Diego I'll be...

The Naked Man riding....

The Bare Bike!

Let's head to Oregon!
