When I read the account of the USS San Francisco in the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal and view the incredible architecture and sculptures at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor....
Something wells up inside me that, while not glorifying war, makes me envy those who fight and die in battle.
They stand shoulder to shoulder and back to back with their brothers in arms, and fight for each other and for their country.
Their lives and deaths had meaning and purpose.

What a beautiful and wonderful building to honor those who have fallen and fought. I know you really enjoyed soaking up all this history.
