Give me your thoughts on this trip....

I want everyone reading this post to submit a comment about this tour so far...

Not from my perspective or what I've done but from your perspective.

Tell me what this trip puts in your mind.

  1. What this trip has put in my mind is that if you really want something bad enough you can achieve almost anything. It has opened my mind that there is another whole world out and if you have enough guts, you can have your own road of discovery. It might not be a trip to the magnitude that you have ventured on but I may be able to go out and do something that may be out of my comfort zone.

  2. My reflection on this trip...in a few quotes:

Life is like riding a bicycle.
    To keep your balance,
    you must keep moving.
    ~Albert Einstein

Everybody needs beauty as well as bread,
places to play in and pray in,
where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.
    ~John Muir

I would rather be ashes than dust!
I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry rot.
I would rather be a superb meteor,
every atom of me in magnificent glow,
than a sleepy and permanent planet.
The proper function of man is to live,
    not to exist.
I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them.
    I shall use my time.
    ~Jack London

The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside,
somewhere where they can be quiet,
    alone with the heavens,
    nature and God.
Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy,
amidst the simple beauty of nature.
    As long as this exists,
    and it certainly always will,
I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow,
    whatever the circumstances may be.
And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.
    ~Ann Frank

When we are alone on a starlit night,
    when by chance we see the migrating birds in autumn descending on a grove of junipers to rest and eat;
when we see children in a moment when they are really children,
    when we know love in our own hearts;
    or when,
    like the Japanese poet, Basho,
we hear an old frog land in a quiet pond with a solitary splash--at such times the awakening,
the turning inside out of all values, the "newness",
the emptiness and the purity of vision that make themselves evident,
all these provide a glimpse of the cosmic dance.
    ~Thomas Merton

So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity,
    and conservatism,
all of which may appear to give one peace of mind,
but in reality nothing is more dangerous to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future.
The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure.
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences,
and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon,
for each day to have a new and different sun.
    ~Christopher McCandless

    Adventure is a path.
    Real adventure – self-determined, self-motivated,
    often risky –
forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world.
The world the way it is,
not the way you imagine it.
Your body will collide with the earth and you will bear witness.
In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind –
and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both.
    This will change you.
Nothing will ever again be black-and-white.
    ~Mark Jenkins

    Nature is man's teacher.
She unfolds her treasure to his search,
    unseals his eye,
    illumes his mind,
    and purifies his heart;
an influence breathes from all the sights and sounds of her existence.
    ~Alfred Billings Street
