So back to the Briar Patch goes the Rabbit...

Yesterday. While I'm cutting down these briars....

One by One...

With a pair of hand shears I'm thinking....

You know I could sharpen the blade on Jim's lawn mower razor sharp, raise up the deck and mow through this patch of briars in about lickety split.

But it's the chore I was given and Jim wanted it done this way so who am I to question....

Who am I to question?

That's like asking -

How does the grass grow!

It just does is the short answer.

So I'm thinking about how I'm gonna approach this with Jim and I settled on the Socratic method (which I personally hate being on the receiving end of) but it works for the rest of the world because people like to be led and coddled - PLEASE!

Anyway I ask Jim -

"It make any difference to you how them briars get cut down?

I was thinking I could sharpen your LM blade, raise it up to max and just plow right over them".

Jim says "I don't want that area mowed....I want the briars to grow back naturally".

Ok - Boss....

So I don't like to leave things unfinished so I say...

"Well if it's all the same to you I'd like to go back out there and finish up my briar cuttin' ".

Jim says "I'll let you know what your next chore is."

Fine by me.... Whatever....
Just trying to help....

So this little conversation happened yesterday.

Today, when I asked him about the parable of the briars, Jim says...

"Look... You're very intelligent, organized and controlling.  I wanted to see what you would say about a more efficient way to cut the briars and how I would respond to it."

Hmmm.... So this non-Native American guy facilitates Native Americans at a culturally and historically significant, emotionally and spiritually charged drum ceremony.

Guess he know a little about the human spirit.

And that's why My Spirit led me here.

  2. Yep. Good at dispensing wisdom. Not so good at receiving it.

    Like much of the world.
