2 - 8 Baby 2 - 8 most of the day - 2nd chain ring 8th gear - the 2nd highest gear I have. Let me translate for those cycling impaired -
I've been flying.... Feel like I got Hercules in one leg and Hades in the other.
I've ripped almost 100 km in a little over 5 hours of ride time on a hybrid bike with 2 fully loaded panniers on varied surface bike paths.
Got up this morning on only a banana, an apple and a bowl of Korn.
Then was Godsmack'd for about 50 km. interesting story about how they got their name. You can read about it in Wikipedia. Just a quick snippet on my reference this morning about this group and a couple of others. Every one of these bands are known for their hard driving often violent and explicit lyrics but you know what I found out after having listened to each of their Greatest Hits albums. At least 2 or 3 of their top hits have its theme set in acknowledgement, recognition of and belief in God and even go so far as to ask for his help and guidance. Don't believe me? Listen to Godsmack's "Shine Down" and make up your own mind. In the end analysis, they all write and sing about the central theme of man and artists through the ages....
Man's struggle with God, Love, Authority and our own insecurity and inadequacy in an often cruel and challenging world. Their lyrics are often extreme but represent the primordial instinct in every Man and Woman to Rage Against the Machine. I'm sure there was a Caveman in the shadow of a T-Rex screaming obscenities and Singing his last song of defiance..... And he probably looked a lot like the lead singer if Korn.
So - here I sit in a Biergarten in Eltville about 17 km from Mainz.
Never seen anything like it - there must be 200 bicycles at this place and everybody's sitting around drinking beer.
I needed some water anyway so I had a glass and now a Hacker - Pschorr Hefe Weisse.
Here's a few pics of this little piece of Germany and then a post with pics from St Goar to here - Eltville.
Gonna finish my beer and coast into Mainz.
