Mesothelioma
Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that’s most often caused by asbestos exposure. It usually forms in the lungs of those who have been exposed to this deadly toxin, but sometimes occurs in the abdominal area or the area around the heart. There are a number of therapies available that can help prolong survival and minimize symptoms and discomfort, but in most cases the cancer is too aggressive and too advanced at the time of diagnosis to be cured.
I am actually flying to Texas this weekend to visit my 90 year old dad who has been dealing with prostate cancer for several years.
One of the common things with cancer prevention and treatment is that the situation is always helped with a good diet and exercise.
Here's a link to an article on the mesothelioma site that endorses that concept -
Here are those top 5 benefits - please read the article for details.
1. Strength Training and Exercise Relieve Fatigue
2. Strength Training Reduces Muscle Loss
3. Building Muscle Improves Mobility, Activity, and Quality of Life
4. Having More Muscle Mass Stimulates Appetite
5. Being Active Relieves Stress, Anxiety, and Depression
This is a common theme throughout this blog. It's probably naive and oversimplified to say that a good diet and exercise cures everything but in essence it is the best approach to minimizing risk of disease or in treating any disease.
I realize it's often hard for people who are older or who are suffering from disease or ailment to consider taxing their body more through exercise but this is the right thing to do.
The human body is an incredibly adaptive machine that can overcome a lot of trauma.
Arm it with good food, work it with exercise, restore it with sleep and control its environment of stress and you will be amazed what you can do.
