Meet Jim - my Host at the Rain Forest Hostel.
You can imagine a man living in the Rain Forest of Washington has rejected the normal or should I say "accepted" course of life...
And that would be Jim - a naturally spiritual and introspective man who facilitates the Ancient Drum Ceremony of the Queleute Indians.
A man who embraces the Paleo / Caveman diet by making his own Kefir and sauerkraut and truly believes that everything you eat affects everything in your life....
Yesterday we talked about the Enteric System - the "Gut Brain".
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enteric_nervous_system
And Jim whips out this book....
So I was thinking about the chore of cutting the briars....
And I'm thinking this ain't by accident....
I sense a lesson and a parable...
So I ask Jim - but I already know the answer...
"What's up with the briars?"
So Jim says - "You are in tremendous conflict."
Ok - duh... Go on.
J says - "You drink too much".
I said "Yep - smoke my pipe too much too and drink too much coffee."
Sound like a familiar conversation?
He continues -"You are also in conflict with where you are in your life. You should not be where you are. It is stifling your life and creativity".
I'm thinking - double duh - that's why I'm here.
So, like I thought, the briars are those things I need to get rid of in my life.
So then Jim puts on this tape...
And I listen and I like the soothing sound of Clarissa's voice and the poems and storytelling and I'm thinking I'll see if I can download this and listen to it while I'm riding.
And it continues to rain...
But I don't care....
Because I'm just thinking...

Daddy you smoke? I love you and am here for you!
ReplyDeleteI think you're amazing!
What color is your hair?
DeleteI been smoking a pipe for 5 months Light Bulb!
How amazing you have come across Jim on this trip. Seems to be giving you something to think about in your life and this trip. Enjoy your time. Diana
ReplyDeleteJim had a lot of issues himself including PTSS and health issues.
DeleteHis approach to life is minimalist and natural.
As in all things and meetings, you learn what you can and use what you can and move on and live your life with the knowledge of the new experience.
That's why I do these things.
