Everything.... In its own Time...

You know...for years my cultured wife (she eats a lot of yogurt) has tried to get me to listen to Opera. 

And I just couldn't do it....

Don't know why....

It just grated on my nerves. 

But quite some time ago I started trying and listening to different kinds of music...

Different from what I normally listen to....

Kinda like a Musical Tour of Discovery. 

Practice what you Preach I say....

In all things. 

Forces you to look at things from a different perspective....

To consider another opinion or point of view. 

To walk in another's shoes for a day....

God forbid....

To be more open minded and less critical. 

So I started listening to offerings from Korn, Audioslave, Godsmack, Disturbed, Staind, Soundgarden, Metallica, etc. 

And you know what I found on the surface....

Rage, Anger, Pain, Depression, Expletives, Violence, Hopelessness...

The first couple of times. 

But then something happened...

I started listening...

With different ears. 

And I began to hear incredible driving, inspiring and motivating music with often thoughtful and standards of life challenging lyrics. 

Words that define the Defeats....

And Triumphs of Man....

In relationships...

With Others...

With Self...

With God. 

So I kept trying new artists and genres....

Rap, Old and New Country, Classical and...

Opera. 

And I have come to love and appreciate it all....

You know there's a new saying....

"You can lead a horse's ass to water....

And he'll sit in it and spoil it for everybody."

I'm trying to change that.
