Pulling out a set of 52 year old guns to show the Young Guns how it's done!

It's pretty interesting.... Here at Zia CrossFit the emphasis for the last few weeks has been on Low Rep High Weight Basic Movements - Heavy Squats, Heavy Push Presses, Max Weighted Pullups.

And lots of Upper Body Work which I'm not used to at CrossFit....

At CrossFitWMD, my old box in Angleton, Tx, we never did Heavy Curls....

Here at Zia CrossFit, I've done them twice in the last 4 weeks!

Today, we had a triple set of arm exercises -

3 rounds of 1 minute each of the following 3:
Hammer Curls with 30# dumbbells
Lying Tricep Extensions aka Brain Crushers with a 45# bar
Barbell Curls with a 45# bar

Here you can see one athlete in the midst of this Arm Blasting WOD....

And Duane, a Physical Therapist Student, working his way through the Pain Zone...

Here were my results....

1st Round I did.....

27 reps of Hammer Curls
40 reps of Lying Tricep Extensions
30 reps of Barbell Curls
For a total of 97 reps

Rounds 2 and 3 were 67 each for a total of 231 reps.

When I got done, the Zia CrossFit owner, BJ Monger,  looked at me and said.....

"Man - it looks like your arms are gonna explode".

I'd say the Old Man had his Pump On!!!

Got home and nuked a beautiful tray of Trader Joe's Turkey and Rice Stuffed Peppers with sauted kale and a soft boiled egg, baked potato and fresh basil....

With a delicious Berry Wheat Beer!

I rode 10 miles round trip this morning in 19 degree temps to a PIYO Strength hour with Liz Prehm at Anytime Fitness....

And then 11 miles round trip this evening to 170# lunges and up to 70# on a single rep Weighted Pullup and a Mind Blowing Arm Blasting WOD at Zia CrossFit.

I'm covering a lot of ground, doing some pretty intense workouts and eating a lot of Body Building Food.
