Taking a Ride down Memory Lane...

What a beautiful day!

The ride from Tower Junction begins with a downhill descent and crossing of the Yellowstone River.

Pulled into the Picnic Area at one of the Specimen Ridge Trailheads....

Man - does this bring back memories.

Aaron, Amy, Madeleine and I left this parking lot before daylight back in June 2003 and began an epic 21 mile Day Hike.....

That climaxed with a harrowing crossing - or should I say -  swimming of the Lamar River at the end of the hike.

Aaron crossed it easily..... Amy and I were nearly drowned.... and Madeleine was swept away downstream....

But with her swimming skills, she made an easy exercise of going with the flow and swimming out on the other side 100 yards of downstream.

We spent a few minutes on the other side drying off and calming Amy down after her going under the 38 degree water several times in our crossing.

We still talk about the Lamar River crossing to this day.

Would do it again.... Anyday.

Buffalo all over the place.

Have never seen this many!

It was interesting....

The Buffalo acted as though they had never seen a person on a bicycle before...

They would allow the vehicles to approach and go by at close range.

But they took one look at me on the bike, threw their tails up and thundered away.

Guess that's better than them running me over.

Just beautiful country.

Hard to see it but that's the Specimen Ridge Trail ascending into a huge loop into the Yellowstone Backcountry.
