Dealing with the Hurt...


It's part of the Game of Fitness at 50...

Or at any age. 

You have to know yourself and your body well enough to push hard enough to make gains.... 

To see improvement...

And yet not sustain an injury that would limit or stop your ability to train effectively. 

Only you can determine that limit. 

I've reached my limit and skipped my standard Fat Burner and Zumba classes this morning for a less dynamic 30 minute workout of stretching, abs, calves and wide grip chinups.

And even that hurt....


I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of shit
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end

You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way


So I quit....

And went home and fixed a nice meal of....


Pork loin, grilled onions and Poblano pepper, fresh tomatoes and a sweet banana pepper....

And something different....

Grilled Eggplant!!!
