I had been telling my family and friends for a long time that I would not be in my hot, humid, flat, mosquito-ridden home town of Lake Jackson Tx for my 50th Birthday....
And I'm not.
I'm in the beautiful Humboldt Redwoods State Park located on the Avenue of the Giants in Northern California.
And it's 50 degrees.
And I woke up to the towering Redwoods above me....
In the Hiker Biker Camp...
Where I've traveled and camped with strangers...
Who have become friends...
And while I am sad to be away from home...
I am happy to be on the Pacific Coast...
Testing my limits everyday...
My ability to navigate and overcome the terrain...
To cope with the 24 hr exposure to the elements...
To take in the Visual Buffet of Beauty that this Tour has offered every day...
In an ever increasing Display of Features and Intensity....
I am exactly where I should be at this Point in Time...
God has blessed me with Safe Travel in a Country of Endless Beauty...
Which has brought continuous Challenge, Chaos and Calm...
To my Mind, Body and Spirit....
So here's my Wish and Desire for You...
Seek out Your Own Peace....
On Your Own Road of Discovery...
For I have found mine...

Happy Birthday, dear brother William. I am so proud of what you have done for yourself. We share some in common, I also spent my 50th birthday by myself, and I mean by myself with no one to celebrate with. It was a time in my life that was very low. Thank God and with his grace I have picked myself up by the bootstrap and have come a long way since that time ten years ago. May this be your best birthday ever. Love the shirt you are wearing.
