The final descent...

I tried to stay between 25 - 30 mph on the descent of Upper Hurricane Ridge Road because the visibility was limited to 50 yards in some places and the road was so slick.

I could feel the bike right on the edge of going out from under me several times but I just kept feathering the front brake on the straights and keeping a slight pressure on the rear brake in the turns.

In the lower steeper straighter section below Heart of the Hills Campground I just took
my hands off the brakes and let the bike free fall at its terminal speed which was as high as 36 mph in some places.

And in less than an hour I was back at the Bike Garage and put my panniers on and eased over to the Port Angeles Inn for a 2nd night.

What do you say about a day like that?

I have 2 thoughts:

First, Thank You God for the opportunity to be here and for bringing me back safe.

Second, I stretched myself yesterday.

I went beyond what I thought I was capable of and saw and did things I never conceived of....

And that's what happens on....

The Road to Discovery.

  1. Stop doing dangerous things. Going that fast on bi-sook is dangerous.
