Cycling in the Netherlands

As mentioned yesterday, it is impressive and sometimes frightening to see how many people cycle in Amsterdam and the other parts of the Netherlands.
The bottom line us that bikes and cyclists are everywhere doing nearly everything most of America does with a car.
This Wikipedia link will give you more info.

I started my education to cycling in the Netherlands with a discussion with a lady on the train in the way into Amsterdam. She had gotten on the train with a matte black bad ass looking bike that looked like it was built out of 2" pipe and could probably tow a house if you could turn the pedals.
She said she had looked at a lot of bikes and settled on this one from BSP - one if the many Dutch bicycle makers.

I'll continue this story line at the gate.
