began as a cycling blog - "Discovering America on 2 Wheels" - in Dec 2009. Since then it's become much more. It is an irreverent, humorous and introspective way of sharing my daily lifestyle, interests, opinions and life challenges. It is a Labor of Love that is Raw, Uncut and Real Time straight from my Heart, Mind and Life to You. So I hope you Read, Enjoy and Become Involved in My Discovery and, in so doing, learn more about Yourself, the World Around You and Your Own Path to Discovery!

Big Gears are the only thing saving me...
This unique perspective show the rear cassette of gears I had installed on my Trek 1500... the chain is on the 30 tooth gear and I'm on the small chain ring on the front gear... It's a 9-speed cassette which means I'm in 2nd gear... of 27 gears.... I'm grinding on 2nd gear at 50 rpm (cadence) on the pedals.... this combo gives me 3.3 MPH.... that's right I'm literally walking my bike up this mountain.... the equipment and the way it's set up is making the difference between can and can't... I'm at 10600' so I've got another 800' of climbing before I get to the high point of the day... Fremont Pass... ain't No Hill for a Stepper!
