About an hour ago the Woddafokkawee bird flew by and said....

WODDAFOKKAWEE!
WODDAFOKKAWEE!
and I said "I don't have a fokkinklue!"

This is something I do every long bike trip I make - I get intentionally lost.
Let me say that again - I get intentionally lost.

It's a psychological thing I've recognized about myself man years ago.

It's a way the last remnants of adventurer, rebel and pissed off reactionary has to deal with the ordered, organized, thinking man that's in control most of the time.

You know you can't get intentionally lost but you can subconsciously and consciously  ignore information, facts, directions, technology and common sense and just go get lost, so that's what I do.
Last time I did this I ended up in the badlands of New Mexico between the little towns of Anton Chico and Villanueva.
This time I just left coffee and pastry in Nierstein which was on my track and took off southwest when I should have been going east - southeast.  I knew that.
I made the excuse in my mind that my GoogleMaps would burn up my battery so I didn't open it up and I knew the Rhein was to the east of me - same place it's been since the beginning of time but I went southwest anyway.
See what I mean?
Oh - there were other subliminal excuses working in my mind I'm sure like - "William, you just had 2 pastries so you need to do an extra 25 km to work that off plus you need to work on your interval training so you need to go up and down 5 km of some of the steepest hills north of the Alps so - long story short I ended up in Dexheim.

See how far off the river I am? I told you I wanted to get lost but along the way I saw...

So I'm thinking this is OK but I gotta get back to the Rhein so I need to head east - yeah that's it - head east... So what's east?
Oppenheim!
Yeah - that's the ticket, let's go to Oppenheim!

So I'm going to Oppenheim and what do I see?

Vineyards! For as far as the eye can see!
Oh and by the way - who's #1?

That would be me!
Continuing on....

This doesn't look it but was a steep uphill which eventually means what?

A Scenic Overlook! Yay!

That's Oppenheim at the bottom of the hill.
More in the next post.
