The Difference Between Fat and Fit Might Be.....
A Bike.... Riding a Bicycle may be the difference in losing that 20 lbs you've put on since high school.
I was reminded of this on this trip to Winter Park.
I rented a Mountain Bike from a local shop - Epic Mountain Sports - and have used it as my basic means of transportation for the last 7 days.
The Hotel I'm staying at - Winter Park Mountain Lodge - is about 2-1/2 miles out of town - at a slightly higher elevation.
Just that ride back and forth to town is enough exercise to make a difference.
I only used my rental car 3 or 4 times. In fact, if I come here again, I won't rent a car at the Denver Airport. I'll take the Amtrak train or a shuttle from the airport and then just rent a bike.
Try that on your next vacation.....
And you may come back home 10 lbs lighter!
The Difference Between Fat and Fit Might Be....
Your Altitude!!!
That's right.... it's a proven fact.... backed up by a slew of health studies.... that those people who live at higher elevations, especially above 5000', are healthier.
It kinda makes sense.... higher altitudes typically means mountains and the up and down of this terrain forces you to be fitter as opposed to just walking on level ground.
Higher altitudes also mean cooler climates and environment and scenery that promote outdoor activities and exercise.... thus a slimmer, trimmer, fitter you.
I realize that these sort of environments tend to be leaner on the Jobs Market also.... and that's certainly a factor to take into consideration.
Even if you can't live in a Higher Plane.... taking your vacations there can be the jumpstart you need to get you back on the Fitness Track.... and get you planning on how to live there in the future!!!
The Difference Between Fat and Fit Might Be....
Your Attitude!!!
Yep - Your Attitude has everything to do with your Health and Fitness.
One of the Main things I see people do that negatively affects their ability to make positive changes in their Body and Life is....
Putting Limitations, Boundaries or Exclusions on their Activities and Actions.
When you begin saying things like....
I won't, I can't, I don't have time, I don't know how, That costs too much, My kids or spouse won't do that, I'm too old, I'm too fat, I've never done that...... I could name many more!
Then you have already defeated yourself before you even started.
When you change your attitude and thoughts to...
I'll try, I'll make time, I'll research that, If I spent less on X - then I could afford Y, Today is a good day to begin, I don't have to be tomorrow what I am today, I'll try that.....
You will be amazed what happens.
I am living proof of that.
At 52, I never thought I would be pumping a bike up a 12% grade at 9000' or screaming down a narrow mountain bike trail at 30 mph or doing CrossFit or doing any number of things that I have never done before.... even when I was much younger.
So.... Consider this...

Had the Angel of God watching over me today.
She asked me where my family was...
Goodbye Stranger.

No Rush to get home.
Not surprising for a place called Rise n Shine.
So I asked Ruth this morning about the whole Free Will vs God is in Control thing.
Said she'd get back with me...
This oughta be interesting.
Might need to dust off the textbooks Duchess!
Feeling like a New World Man...
"New World Man"
He's a rebel and a runner
He's a signal turning green
He's a restless young romantic
Wants to run the big machine
He's got a problem with his poisons
But you know he'll find a cure
He's cleaning up his systems
To keep his nature pure
Learning to match the beat of the Old World Man
Learning to catch the heat of the Third World Man
He's got to make his own mistakes
And learn to mend the mess he makes
He's old enough to know what's right
But young enough not to choose it
He's noble enough to win the world
But weak enough to lose it
He's a New World Man...
He's a radio receiver
Tuned to factories and farms
He's a writer and a ranger
And a young boy bearing arms
He's got a problem with his power
With weapons on patrol
He's got to walk a fine line
And keep his self-control
Trying to save the day for the Old World Man
Trying to pave the way for the Third World Man
He's not concerned with yesterday
He knows constant change is here today
He's noble enough to know what's right
But weak enough not to choose it
He's wise enough to win the world
But fool enough to lose it
He's a New World Man...

In Full Screaming Dive Mode....
Falling out of the Clouds...
And God better be my Copilot....
Cause I know I'm hitting at least 30 mph on some of these narrow steep trails...
Freakin' Love It!!!
This is Why We Live!!!
