On the subject of getting what you ask for....

I burned the "false log" they had in the fireplace last night... And loved it. It lit up the room with a warm glow and added $20/night to the value of the room.

So this morning I went down and asked the morning manager, Careena, for another log, while telling her how much I was enjoying my room and Gualala in general.

She said "Well, we normally charge for the 2nd log but...."

And handed me the 2nd log for free which I thoroughly enjoyed this morning.

Seagulls don't like granola but....

Sparrows do.

Washed my riding clothes from yesterday in the shower with me last night and hung them out to dry.
They were still wet this morning. My room had a hair dryer so I created a tent with my shirt with the shorts and socks underneath and 10 minutes later - Voila - dry clothes. Will have an light compact hair dryer next Walmart I see.

Another use for rubber bands - to hold 2 sandwiches together.
I did pretty good this morning - ate all
of the flatbread, half the Salame and 2/3 of the brie and proportional amounts of the hummus, mustard, fig spread and tomatoes.
Used half the sour dough bread and the rest of the Salame, brie and mustard to make the 2 sandwiches above. Ate 1 peach and 1 pear. Figured I knocked down about 5000 and packed another 5 grand on the bike. Not a bad morning's eating.
