I'm Backkkkk.....

Left Cheyenne Wyoming and the Little America Hotel last Friday 6/25.... returned today 6/29 to the same room I had for almost 4 weeks. I'm also retrieving my Old Mountain Bike I left locked to a tree across from my room. The more things change the more they remain the same...

Driving Range behind the Little America Hotel

I guess the Great Plains make a great golf course and an even better wide open Mountain Bike arena. There are 2-track trails... another way of saying dirt roads... going west and north from the back of the hotel... it's kinda different for a Gulf Coast of Texas boy to be riding across the Great Plains with the Pronghorn, Coyotes and Jackrabbits... really haven't done much riding in my 4 week work assignment in Cheyenne Wyoming. It's been 12 - 14 hours a day 7 days a week since June 1st... my life seems to be a case study in extremes... imagine that... but my mind and imagination is working on a plan to continue the oft interrupted but neverending saga of... Discovering America on 2 Wheels... Stay Tuned!

Stopped at the Rendezvous Lodge in Ryan Park - population 18 - Salute!

Had a Moose Drule beer and a nice conversation with Rayetta and Lance. I then headed back for a twilight drive on Scenic Byway 130 over Snowy Range Pass. The saturation of colors and evening shades and reflections of the setting sun off the clouds and mountain peaks created a surreal gauntlet of travel at near 11000'.... Amazing!

This terrain is unique!

Cheyenne WY marks the end of the Great Plains... at Curt Gowdy SP, you get into the foothills that lead up to the Laramie Mts which are the first mtns the westward travelers would've hit along this path.... that's why the Union Pacific laid their tracks along this route.... it's a gradual increase (this area known as the Steps) before getting into the mountains... never been here but I love it... these trails are a mountain biker's dream!
